Kickstarter & Indiegogo Update 002 // Year of the tiger.

Hello Kickstarter & Indiegogo Backer!

I hope your start to 2022 has kicked off spectacularly and you’re ready to tackle a bright and prosperous year ahead!? If you’re wondering where your ONE BRUSH is, here’s a quick update on what’s been happening and what’s to come.

PRODUCTION AND MOULD MAKING
I’m happy to report that the mould designs are complete and mould manufacturing is underway… Unfortunately we couldn’t quite get the mould manufacturing finished before Chinese New Year (23rd Jan - 16th Feb) but we’re about 90% there. So I'm patiently waiting for the factories to return to work on the 16th, to finish the moulds and get test manufacturing samples underway. That being said, everyone deserves a holiday and the manufacturers and engineers I have been working with are extremely diligent and hard working so I’m leaving them alone for now :)

WHY DO MOULD DESIGNS TAKE SO LONG???
Great question! It’s easy to 3D print a product but much MUCH harder to create the mould/mass manufacturing tools that quickly, precisely and efficiently construct each part of the actual design.

When designing the ONE BRUSH I was constantly working alongside my talented team of engineers and manufacturers each step of the way before the official launch on Kickstarter & Indiegogo

Believe it or not this was a two year process of testing and refining on repeat!

We had a few final hurdles with the seam placement on the brush. To cut a long story short, when two halves of a mould meet and the plastic is injected, it can leave a very thin seam/join line. Not to point the finger but someone who is very fussy and particular about every detail of the ONE BRUSH (yeah that’s me) hated the idea of a visible line, no matter what thickness, being present. There were A LOT of emails and zoom calls to solve this problem, but I’m proud to report that it has all been ironed out in the most discreet way possible… happy days!

SURVEYS
I’ll be holding off on sending surveys until I have approved the final bulk manufacturing samples. I want to ensure production is absolutely perfect across all facets especially when talking our colour options –black and white. When using recycled material the injection moulded plastic can sometimes not be as colour perfect as virgin material and can have blemishes (let’s call them natural beauty marks) this will be fine for darker colours/black, but will need a little testing with the recycled material to make sure lighter colours/white work perfectly.

CHICAGO – THE INSPIRED HOME SHOW
True fact!! This little kiwi is taking his big idea to the International Homewares Show in Chicago from 5-7 March! I would absolutely love to hear from anyone who is attending or has been before for tips and tricks and of course must dos in the windy city!  Have a sneak peak at the snazzy booth design below!

I will also be traveling through LA if anyone has any must visit stores for me to check out and take the ONE BRUSH to.

Timeline
Production is very much still on track to meet the deadlines outlined in the Kickstarter Campaign. Delivery will be May/June 2022 depending on where you are located in the world. Below is the timeline from the KS page in case anyone missed it.
